After graduation from Provine High School, she attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, but at the age of eighteen she left the college for New York City where she had received a role on Broadway as the understudy to the star of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. In 1964 she played the role of Rosemary in the show and later played the lead in summer stock. Moving to England in 1970 Workman had a weekly appearance on Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's comedy series Two Weeks at the Savoy. On the Rolling Stones' album Tatoo You Workman is the voice behind Mick Jagger. She has also worked with numerous other British recording artists. Moving from England to France in 1973, Nanette Workman toured with Johnny Hallyday as his opening act. She recorded an album in English with Peter Frampton in 1964 and with others. She made three albums with Yves Martin before returning to Quebec where she recorded several more French albums. Returning to France in 1978, she starred in the Rock Opera Starmania as Sadia. In 1990 she returned to become "La Diva" in the musical comedy La Legende de Jimmy. In 1980 she made an album Chaude in collaboration with her brother Billy Workman and Luc Plamondon. In addition to appearing in many commercials, television shows and films, she has been featured in well-known Canadian magazines. She has written a book entitled Nanette, which is biographical with photographs. She has a seventeen year old son named Jesse. In her spare time she enjoys animals, especially her cats!
Most recently, Mississippi State University has begun a program where a group of students live together to advance their study of the French language.
