G. Ruger Donoho was born in 1857 in Church Hill, Mississippi. He became one of America’s foremost Impressionist painters and a pioneer of the East Hampton, NY, artist community. An exhibit of his work in Jackson at the Mississippi Museum of Art showed over 30 paintings and drawings and then toured nationally through 1996. He frequently painted the countryside of France. He died in New York, New York, in 1916.
