Photographer William Eggleston was born in 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up on cotton plantation in Sumner, Mississippi. Eggleston attended Delta State College (one semester), University of Mississippi, and Vanderbilt University. His work was influenced by Cartier-Bresson, known as Father of Color Photography. Eggleston has published his work extensively. He released a film “Stranded in Canton” in 2008. Several documentaries about William Eggleston and his work have been produced.
He lives and works in Memphis, and travels extensively for work.
