Biography
Born in 1935 in Jackson, Mississippi, Carsley obtained her B.A. from Millsaps College in Jackson in 1957. She earned a Master’s in English from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi, in 1959.
She primarily writes romance novels based on historical people or events, but she has also written some award-winning essays.
She received awards from Millsaps College, the Southern Literary Festivals, the Mississippi Arts Festival, and the Mississippi Commission on the Arts for her essays. She was awarded third prize from the Mississippi Authority for Educational Television for a screenplay in 1970 (Mississippi Writers: Reflections of Childhood and Youth, Volume III).
Carsley lives in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
