Biography
Cat Cora was born in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1967 to Virginia Lee and Spiro Pete Cora. Both her father and grandfather owned restaurants.
She attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Biology. She went on to attend the Culinary Institute of America in New York.
She currently lives in California and was star, co-host, and chef on the television Food Network. She was the first female “Iron Chef” in 2005. Her books primarily contain recipes.
Cora co-founded Chefs for Humanity, a nonprofit that provides aid related to nutrition and hunger-related issues.
Cora also co-hosted the show Around the World in 80 Plates on Bravo. She has opened restaurants in several locations. In 2017, she co-hosted My Kitchen Rules.
In 2013, Cora married her longtime partner and they had four sons. The couple divorced in 2015. Cora married Nicole Ehrlich in 2018.
