Biography
Edward N. Akin was an associate professor of history at Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. He has written a biography of one of Florida’s most powerful citizens, Henry Morrison Flagler, who was one of the founders of Standard Oil of Ohio (now Exxon) and the establisher of many companies in Florida. This book won the 1985 Phi Alpha Theta manuscript prize.
Akin also co-wrote Mississippi: An Illustrated History with Charles C. Bolton. This nonfiction book traces the history of the state of Mississippi from the earliest expedition by Hernando de Soto to the events unfolding in 1987 accompanied with both color and black and white photos.
