Biography
Born in Bessemer, Alabama, Scott lived in Ridgeland, Mississippi, for many years and was a Mississippi Association of Realtors’ executive. He earned degrees from the University of Montevallo and Auburn University at Mongtomery. He has been a commentator on Southern culture for Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MBP) and National Public Radio’s All Things Considered. He has three children.
The Brunner family moved to Virginia in 2005 where Brunner became the Executive Director for the Virginia Association of Realtors until 2013. He has written two books, Carryin’ On and Other Strange Things Southerners Do (2001) and Due South: Dispatches from Down Home (1999). He is now a leadership consultant, trainer, and facilitator.
